Sažetak
The aim of this tudy was to determine changes of the regulation level and concomitant changes in BMI in type 2 diabetes patients in two years (2001-2003). Data on 10562 persons with type 2 diabetes (5062 men and 5500 women) controlled at this period in the same Diabetes clinic are collected in medical record data base (CroDiab NET). Results are analysed using STATISTICA ver. 6.0. Nonparametric test were used for probability testing with level of signifiance at 0, 01. The patient's characteristics are ahown in the table. Overall, there is a significant decrease in A1c (p<o.1, Fiedman's) with no significant difference in BMI. The examinees were divided in two grops according to the type of treatment at the first and lasrt visit. There was a significant difference in the BMI and Hba1c change between grouops (p<0.01, Kruskal-Wallis). the BMI increased the most in patients to whom insulin was introduced during the observed period., and the least in patients remaining on diet only. The decrease in HbA1c was greatest in patients treated by diet and metformin and those in whom insulin was introduced. The study confirms that therapeutic intercention in daily practice does improve bloood glucose regulation and that the concomitant weight is moderate and should not be a reason for withholding enhancement of diabetes treatment.
