Sažetak
This work present the start and reasons for the informal foundation of the Ultrasonic Center of Excellence, UCI, based ond knowledge and needs. The efforts and results of activities were justify in the synergetic impacts. The advantages of founding it and possible added values will be pointed out, as well as the general strategy and possible development, but also difficulties which normally come out, depending on the structure of the Center of Excellency, the field of activity and scopes of its members. A group of scientists and experts in order to improve possibilities and conditions of its work within the range of its activities having already for 10 years a successful cooperation in the field of ultrasonic and acoustic engineering in wider sense has been decided to proceed cooperation organizing themselves within the Ultrasonic Center of Excellence, UCI. This cooperation has primarily enabled the use of scientific and logistic resources of related groups since the generally poor equipment and research support were the main problem of R&D for almost all of them. By the time the collaboration has contributed to a certain coordination between activities and focusing to a vital mutual interests. In the same time cooperation resulted as a support not only for scientific workers and experts within the members of UCI in shearing efforts, experience and results, but also regarding the cooperation within related institutions to achieve better compatibility of equipment in their laboratories and use of resources in more efficient way. Economizing by avoiding unnecessary duplications and by enabling better use of resources, the synergetic effect on investigation results by interdisciplinary cooperation and contacts has been accomplished. This work will present the start and reasons for the informal foundation of the Ultrasonic Center of Excellence UCI, based on knowledge and needs.
