Sažetak
Several studies have suggested that an inhibitory striato-nigral GABAergic pathway may exert feedback control over the nigro-striatal dopamine neurons. The reciprocal relationships among these neurons have not been extensively studied. Administration of drugs (antipsychotics) which block dopamine receptors and thus prevent dopamine neurons from exerting their normal effects at postsynaptic sites affords one possible approach to this question. In the present study, the effects of three different types of antipsychotics, chlorpromazine, clozapine and haloperidol, on GABA concentration, GABA synthesis and GAD activity in various brain regions were investigated.
