Sažetak
The interaction between dopaminergic and GABAergic neurons was studied in four brain regions (substantia nigra, caudate nucleus, pyriform and cingulate cortex) by following the influence of a new dopamine receptor blocker, clozapine, on GABA synthesis. The synthesis of GABA was measured by means of aminooxyacetic acid (AOAA), a drug which preferentially blocks the activity of GABA- transaminase (GABA-T, the enzyme taking part in GABA catabolism)and causes a linear accumulation of GABA.
