Sažetak
AIM OF THE STUDY We are presenting a case of a 47 year old patient with recidive ductal invasive breast carcinoma and trichinellosis. METHODS In the 1998, patient was treated for mastectomy of the left breast with evacuation of axilla on account of ductal invasive breast carcinoma at the Department of Surgery, Osijek Clinical Hospital (OCH). Afterwards she had radiation therapy of the thoracic wall. Two years later patient was treated at the Department of Infective diseases OCH on account of trichinellosis when she was given per oral therapy of mebendazol and symptomatic therapy. Surgical control results were without signs of local recidive. Six years after mastectomy there was a lesion on thoracic wall above surgical scar in means of local recidive and excision of the lesion was done including patohistological examination. RESULTS Histological examination showed ductal invasive breast carcinoma with present multiple trichinella spiralis parasites, which were located inside muscle tissue but also inside tumor tissue. CONCLUSION Parasite findings in tumor tissue are in favor of infestation in year 2000, and preserved parasite morphology indicates protective effects of the parasite capsule, which stopped parasite necrosis.
