Sažetak
In this paper, the authors report on their experience in the dental identification of war victims from the exhumed bodies of the 523 killed civilians in Croatia at the Department of Forensic medicine and Criminology at the School of medficine in Zagreb. All oro-dental characteristics were chaerfully recorded in the postmortem Interpol Disaster Victim Identification Forms. Forensic DNA testing, based on DNA extracted from teeth, was applied in several cases where dental comparison and other standard forensic methods were unsuccessful. Identification based on dental a.m. data and other specific characteristics were helpful for identification of 85% bodies and other relevant identification in 15% of bodies.
