Sažetak
Data on all patients admitted in 1997 to the intensive care unit according to records from Department files, were retrospectively analysed. There were 779 stroke patients, 440 females and 339 males. Ischemic stroke was diagnosed in 627 and haemorrhagic stroke in 152 patients. The mean age in patients with ischemic stroke was 73.96 years and in those with haemorrhagic stroke 65.07 years. Most common risk factors associated with stroke were hypertension, diabetes, atrial fibrillation and other cardiac diseases.
