Sažetak
The autors own experience with the use of different smoking cessation methods in smokers with diagnosis of cerebrovascular disease is described. The most effective was the combination of short term nicotine replacement therapy with special supported therapy. Nicotine dose was individually determined according to the number of cigarette smoked daily grade of dependance and cardiovascular state of particular smoker. During initial period, withdrawal symptoms are in their worsed, the use of transdermal therapeutic system (Nicotinell TTS) is an effective aid. The balanced release of nicotine through the skin into the blood stream without peak concentration is successful in reduction or even eliminating of withdrawal symptoms.
