Sažetak
This study was undertaken to evaluate potential vibrations of Er:YAG laser in non-contact mode and to measure the vibrations with different pulse lengths and energy parameters. The experiment was conducted on extracted human premolar which was built up in a plaster box. The silicone impression material was used to simulate the periodontal tissue. The vibration measurements were analyzed after the setting of the impression material (24 hours). Er:YAG laser system (Fidelis Plus, Fotona, Ljubljana, Slovenia) was used in this study. Vibrations were measured for very short pulse (VSP), short pulse (SP), long pulse (LP) and super short pulse (SSP) at frequency of 5 Hz during 1 second. For VSP, SP and LP energy parameter tested were 200 mJ, 300 mJ, 400 mJ and 500 mJ. SSP was tested at 1 000 mJ because it is only energy parameter enabled at that pulse mode. The vibrations were measured by Piezoelectric accelerometer type 8303 and displayed on Charge Amplifier Type 2635 (Brüel & Kjæ r, Denmark). The measuring probe was attached to the silicone block with impression material. For each irradiation energy the measurements were preformed 15 times. The results were expressed in m/s2. Results of this study showed that Er:YAG laser caused vibrations in non-contact mode. The highest values of vibrations were measured for SSP pulse mode (0.62± 0.06 m/s2), and the lowest vibrations were measured for VSP mode at energy parameter 200 mJ (0.05± 0.02 m/s2). There was a statistically significant (F=103.5, p<0.01) difference between the laser pulse modes (VSP, SP, SSP). The main effect of energy parameter was also significant (F=358.2, p<0.01). According to this study Er:YAG laser produced vibrations in non contact mode depending on energy parameter and pulse mode.
