Sažetak
The history of research, development and production of sulfonamides within PLIVA was described. Theree generation of sulfonamides with antibacterial activity were covered, as well as sulfonamides with diuretic and antidiabtetic activity. This paper also describes the synthesis of sulfonamide synergists, as well as mechanism of action and their metabolism. A survey is also given of the studies performed with newly synthesized compounds, potential new sulfonamide synergists.
