Sažetak
IBD is chronic relapsing inflammatory condition of the gut. The etiology of IBD remains unclear ; its treatment is still not a curative one. Interferon gamma was thought to be a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of human disease and animal models to IBD. Several studies were performed in mice with disrupted interferon gamma gene or receptor suggesting that this cytokine is not neccesary for the induction of colitis. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of interferon gamma in the development of TNBS-induced colitis using inteerferon gamma knock-out C57BL and Balb/c mice. C57/BL mice, both KO and WT do not develop colitis after single intracolonic administration of 25 mg/kg TNBS dissolved in 50% ethanol. Higher mortallity rate observed in WT than in KO at 25 mg/kg TNBS dissolved in 40% ethanol suggest regulatory role of inteeferon-gamma.
