Sažetak
In the contemporary economy, both the world market and new production methods impose fast development to small wood-processing firms. Likewise, the modern world market demands products of wide and adaptable assortments, small and changeable quantities (frequently unique examples), and high quality, all facing severe competition. Accordingly, the concept of modern production philosophy may be realized by establishing smaller companies with more flexible, wide production programs. However, the market and new production methods also impose fast development of the management information system in small wood-processing companies. The information system must create a more unified, faster and simpler work supported by new technology. The field of production management and business is exceptionally significant for all wood-processing companies. It can survive and progress only if it is being managed, provided that future behavior is predicted and accordingly directed. Proper choice of the suitable planning and production management system will lead the company toward higher efficiency. The paper therefore illustrates an info-system model for small wood-processing companies. It is therefore important to emphasize, that an info-system in a wood manufacture consists of a data-processing system and an information/communication processing system, through which it is possible to manage the production and business resources. In conceptual terms, it is thus possible to control the whole logistic system of a small company in a more rational way, and to connect it with the associated surroundings through the concept of the National communication system, both at home and abroad.
