Sažetak
Although Kaposi's article is quoted usually in relation with his eponym, and for the fact that in the description of it Kaposi made an almost a prophetic foresight of an underlying systemic diseases, Heitzmann's name and picture, the earliest visual representation, of sarcoma Kaposi, published in Hebra's atlas is regularly neglected. Inspection of the original water colours revealed that the affected foot signed by Carl Heitzmann in 1868, that is, four years before the classic paper of Kaposi appeared in 1872, thereby documenting the priority in illustration. For the sake of completeness it may be mentioned that Kaposi's article reported five patients, the first of which came under his care in 1868 and was admitted to Hebra´s department on 25th July of that year.
