A review of the achievements in research of the Mills-Nixon effect in the last seventy years is presented. An extensive, original and conclusive evidence in favor of the Mills-Nixon effect is given and some common fallacies found in the scientific literature are discussed in detail. A particular emphasis is laid down on the chemical relevance of the MN-effect.
