Sažetak
The objective of the paper is to analyse the behaviour of a nailed wall in soft clay deposits constructed for a temporary protection of an excavation pit in the centre of Zagreb in the year 1996. It has been the first attempt to builed a nailed wall in Croatia. The paper deals with actions, displacements and a failure mechanism of the soil nailing structure. The analysis of the evolution of displacements has been carried out based on soil parameters and settlements measured during construction. It has been performed by using program FLAC, provided by Itasca Consultin Group, Inc. Minneapolis, Minnesota. By means of FLAC an attempt has been made to model the influence of the rise of groundwater level on stabilčity of the nailed wall. The numerical analysis showed that the nailed wall in Mandrovićeva Street should stay stable under normal conditions and that the instability of a section of the wall was probably caused by the unexpected raise of groundwater.
