Sažetak
While some of the arguments for nominal prevalence in early language development relied on cognitive development characteristics and the easiness of meaning decoding, some other argument, focused more on language structure and specifities of the particular language pointed to possible verbal prevalence. Another important moment in studying child language, the process from emerging to acquiring language, is related to some characteristics of input language. As much as we can take into account cultural difference and/or parent/child style, some basic differences in quantity of the particular features/part of speech can play an important role in early language development. Main aim of this paper is to present a comparative analysis of early acquisition of verbal lexicon in two children, a boy and a girl, and their relation to input language. The analysis will be based on the naturalistic data, collected in two-year period, weekly, in approximately 45 minutes recording session. They were predominantly in interactions with their mothers. Both children come from urban, monolingual families. Transcripts and coding are done by CHAT and CLAN programs (CHILDES). The paper will be focused on the analyses of verbal lexicon in terms of their types and semantics and its relation to frequency present in child directed speech. Therefore, both comparison of input and output language of two children will be presented, as well as their interrelation, with an intention to provide arguments for a discussion on input frequency relevance.
