Sažetak
A student administration system in Croatia has to support ECTS* by issuing all the needed documents in various languages. In the early phase of data modelling two approaches were considered: § model based on single language § model which intrinsically supports multilanguage capabilities Benefits of the first approach are ease of implementation and better performance, but it imposes significant limitations in further use. Second approach would allow effortless appending of new languages. User can define a new language and the application would provide all the needed functionality for data acquisition and presentation, without any intervention in data model nor application code. The system is based upon Informix RDBMS, Java and XML.
