Sažetak
Staphyloccocal scalded skin syndrome (SSS) is a disease caused by a toxin šrpduced by coagulase-positive staphylococci. The most common isolatesd are group II phage 71 and 55 staphylococci. Two children aged 8 and 13 months were admitted to our Department. Both had diffuse erythema on their face and trunk with pronounced skin tenderness. Both had positive Nikolsky sign. Intravenous antibiotic was introduced in both patients, with prompt response. The eruption regressed in 5-7 days but desquamation persisted for 1-2 weeks. When a full-blown picture is present SSS should be differentiated from toxic epidermal necrolysis.
