Sažetak
Dendrochronology is a field of forestry science in which the annual rings of trees (especially of trees in the temperate zone) as a feature of tree growth, are used to date historical events and assess the development of trees and stands in a forest using biometric tools of time series. The paper is a presentation research relates to the study of the radial increment, or ring width at 1, 3 m from the ground of pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) in the community of pedunculate oak and great greenweed with remote sedge (Genisto elatae - Quercetum roboris caricetosum remotae Ht. 1938) in the permanent plot "Opeke", Croatia. Dendroclimatological research conducted for a short period (1971 - 1998) in the permanent sample plot - Opeke on pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) points to the following conclusions : The temperature - percipitation interaction expressed with the vegetation quotient should be monitored for one vegetation period and not for whole year. These two ecological factors, expressed with Prpić's vegetation qoutient, indicate that they affect the development of ring widths of pedunculate oak, that is, the quality of the annual ring index (Wt=W1, t), which is higher than the random index because the degree of correlation is higher. Apart from this, radial increments are also influenced by a random signal or signals (influence) (Wt), which were not recognised in the current monitoring. The ring index (y/Gt) determined with the method of Graybill (1982.) shows that in correlation with the weather it has the value of strong correlation (R2= 0, 679 ; R= 0, 824). This means that trees and stands will develop properly if essential ecological factors, water and temperature in particular, are well balanced.
