Sažetak
One important aspect of emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive the emotional qualities in a variety of stimuli. The aim of this study was to examine the possibility to measure the ability of perceiving emotions and moods in art. Sixty pastel paintings were selected and estimated on 151 descriptors of affective states. A factor analysis based on the painter's ratings of the affective states resulted in three factors: negative affection, positive affection and activation. Loadings on these three factors together with test-retest reliabilities enabled a reduction to 12 pictures and 20 descriptors. High agreement was obtained between the painter's ratings and the ratings of twelve art experts. The importance of developing a test of emotion perception based on art work is discussed.
