Sažetak
In order to achieve high productivity under the turbulent production environment, production systems have been changed into cellular manufacturing systems. The problem of identifying machine cells and corresponding part families based on group technology principles have been extensively researched in last period. In this paper, the use of genetic algorithm (GA) for solving the cell formation problem is investigated. The objective is to minimize total inter-cell as well as intra-cell movements of parts during the manufacturing process. The efficiency of proposed algorithm has been compared to several well-known approaches from the literature, and obtained results shows that the proposed GA is simply and efficient means for solving that kind of problems
