Sažetak
Activities of disaccharidases in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract of sixteen BALB C mice were measured. In all examined parts maltase activities had the highest values and lactase activities the lowest, except in the large intestine, where lactase activity is higher than of sucrase. Especially interesting were findings of low values for all disaccharidase activities in the duodenum and ileum. This shows how important it is for the small-intestinal biopsy to be taken from the upper jejunum rather than from the other parts of the small intestine. Bacause, the biopsies from the duodenum or ileum could give false disaccharidases deficiency result. The presence of disaccharidases activity in the stomach and colon supports the thesis about unique role of primitive gut in the metabolism of carbohydrates.
