Sažetak
The founding of the School of Medicine, or the Faculty of Medicine, as it is officially called, in Rijeka 1955, was a milestone in the overall development of education, scholarship and medicine in this city, far transcending any strictly local limits. Indeed, School of Medicine is the oldest and largest member of the University of Rijeka. Today, Rijeka School of Medicine is not only the most notable member of the University of Rijeka, but has also come to be the largest educational-scholarly institution in Croatia outside Zagreb.
