Sažetak
The influence of endogenous prostanoid formation on the regenerating and intact liver tissue and serum proteins was evaluated by treatment with indomethacin (IND) on partially hepatectomized (PHX), sham operated (sham HX) and intact mice. The IND administration (5 mg per kg body mass, two times a day, disolved in 20 % ethanol) was started immediately after the PHX or sham HX and lasted for 3 days. Intact animals received 20 % ethanol alone. SIx days after operation, liver regeneration in the PHX mice was characterized by a significant increase of B and increase of A1 serum globulins (p<0.05). The IND administration significantly inhibited (p<0.05) the accumulation of nucleic acids, decreased the concentration of serum albumins and increased the concentration of A2 globulins. In sham HX and intact animals, IND did not charge the content of hepatic nucleic acids, but produced an additional decrease of A1 and increase of Y globulins, as compared with the unoperated mice. Slight inhibitory effects on accumulation of hepatic nucleic acids and proteins were, however, observed after the treatment with 20 % ethanol as well. From the obtained data we concluded that arachidonic acid metabolites might act as local hormones capable to modify the action of various agents that initiate and regulate the compensatory liver growth and the synthesis of major acute phase plasma proteins.
