Sažetak
Genital Human papilloma virus (HPV) infections are one of the most common sexually transmitted disease. HPV is associated with spectrum of diseases, from benign vulvar verruca, condylomata scuminata, to malignant cervical, vulvar, anal or penile cancer. Sexual transmission is the main pathway for genital HPV's, although rarely other non-sexual rotes such as perinatal transmission or autoinoculation. Men are usually reservoir of the virus, which lives in latent form on genital mucousa, and these subclinical asympthomatic infections can be oncogenic factor(s) development of cervical cancer. Examination of the genitalia by colposcopic equipment after application of 5% acetic acid is reliable method for the identification of subclinical HPV infection. Successful therapy of anogenital warts can be characterized by clearance, as well as by lack of recurrence. The diagnosis and therapy of HPV infection in men is potential benefit, because eradication of penile condylomata may decrease the reservoir of virus.
