Sažetak
The field trial was set up during the 1999 - 2000 year to investigated the influence of nitrogen fertilization (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg N/ha) combined with irrigation and no irrigation on the yield and quality of virginia tobacco leaf. The drip irrigation applied increased yield by 15.3 % in the first and by 27.2 % in the second trial year. Irrigation also resulted a statistically significant increase in leaf quality in both trial years by 13 and 19 percent, respectively. The highest yield in both years was recorded by the combination of irrigation and the highest nitrogen rate, but the significantly highest total production value was obtained for irrigated tobacco fertilized with 20 - 40 kg N7ha, and the best chemical composition was that of the tobacco fertilized with 20 kg N/ha and grown under irrigation.
