Sažetak
The paper deals with weather and climate descriptions originating before the establishment of the meteorological station network. The oldest of them stem from as long ago as the second and the first centura B.C. They may be found in local and foreign almanacs, reports, letters, newspapers and books. In the first part of the paper records of weather are ordered chronologically. These are casual notes, accounts of somehow peculiar weather events, and even regular, almost daily weather notes written through many years in the 18th century in Makarska. The second segment presents reports on common weather characteristics, i.e. climate attributs. These are mostly wind accounts, particularly of Bura (Bora), but there are also a few climatographies.
