Sažetak
The etiology and pathogenesis of EA are strongly related to the gastroensophageal reflux disease (GERD).The occurrence of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EA) can be prevented. Timely detection and managament of GERD is crucial in the prevention of disease complication, especially Barrett s esophagus (BE). The program of longterm endoscopic and histologic follow-up of BE definitely contributes to the prevention of EA, or to its early detection while still curable.
