Abstract: Global problems emerging from the limited water resources and increasing water use and pollution are exposed with an emphasis on the impact of drinking water quality and provision on human health. The article also describes current situation in Croatia regarding water quality, monitoring and protection stressing the need for adherence to the principles of sustainable development in water management solutions.
