Sažetak
An approximate analytical method of estimating effective breadth of deck plating is given. A part of deck plating amidships is considered, under line loads due to ship girder shearing forces, along the deck plating, and normal forces due to ship girder bending moments, at deck plating ends. It is assumed that contraction of plating breadth is small, but not neglected. The solution is given for deck plating of ships without longitudinal bulkheads and with one central longitudinal bulkhead. The results are checked by the finite element method.
