Sažetak
The rapidly expanding field of supramolecular chemistry has revealed a number of useful building blocks for the synthesis of artificial receptor molecules. Continuing the studies of adamantane containing macrocyclic molecules, 4, 6:11, 13-di(1, 3-adamantano)cyclotetradeca-trans, trans-1, 8-diene (1) has been prepared. The structure of 1 was established by spectral and X-ray crystallographic methods. Dynamic NMR studies indicate that 1 is conformationally mobile. Using the coalescence temperature method, the transition state Gibbs energy of equilibrium process between two conformers was estimated to be ca.14.2 kcal/mol.
