Croatian banking was chosen as a representative of top business practice due to its enviable business efficiency, hyper-liquidity, great level of concentration and market positioning, and competitive distinctiveness. In accordance with the modern trends in social reporting, which hold the Internet to be evermore important means of communication, information about social involvement of Croatian banks announced on the enterprise's web sites in 2003 have been investigated. Analysis has shown that the involment of the Croatian banks in socially and environmentally responsible activities, despite the banks' claims that their business has been run by the values of corporate social responsibility, correspondent to be rare and occasioanl. Challenges in the field of corporate social responsibility definition, application, and standards on social reporting addressed by analysis have been also stressed.
