Sažetak
Blood samples of 17 free-living European brown bears from the National Park of Plitvice Lakes and Risnjak were analysed to obtaion the base-line data on their blood profile. We found no significant age related differences in 8 subadults versus 9 adults. Compared to the mean values for 44 American black bears, the brown bears we examined showed less red and white blood cellls, with more segmented neutrophils and less lymphocytes in the white blood picture.
