Sažetak
In order to satisfy specific customer needs related to performance, quality, quantity, cost and terms, it is necessary to restructure the existing factories.One of recostruction possibilities is implementation of new cooperation forms that lead to virtual factories. A characteristic of virtual factory is its contrecation on core competences of a particular plant in the network. The paper deals with basic characteristic of virtual factory and procedure of determining the core competences. The concept of a virtual factory in the metal-working industy in Split-Dalmatian Country has been shown.
