Sažetak
The paper presents the results of investigation of factors affecting bridge durability. Particular accent is given to characteristics marking these factors in Croatia. Their origin lies in the local ambiental features - such as in the littoral, with strong bora winds, but also in the characteristics of bridge construction during the past several decades. Also presented are the data established during the inspection of the majority of bridges in Croatia, based on which is the proposed procedure for designing the optimal durability of future and maintaining of existing bridges.
