Sažetak
The dissertation /paper is based on a comparative account of pre-school teacher education. A significant difference does not exist in the organization of pre-school teacher education studies in Croatia and Slovenia, if we compare both countries 3-year programmes. When compared to the 2-year programmes, a difference is observable in the number of courses, total number of hours, division of courses and the number of choices of finding employment upon graduation. Pre-school teachers are not in a position to work in elementary schools in Croatia, even though the characteristics of children in the early years of elementary school correspond to the level of competence of pre-school trained teachers.
