Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to present our projection of the education of the pre-school teachers in a time of euro integrations. Starting points for the creation of a model for the professional education of pre-school teachers are: defining the roles of a teacher and related necessary competences ; determining the basic knowledge that will serve as a standard of evaluation of a teacher's expertise ; defining 'initial competence' that introduces teachers into the profession and formulating the concept/process for teachers' promotion. We support the the following conceptual and practical changes in the education of pre-school teachers: changes at the level of goals and methodology of education ; changes in the forms of teaching and changes in mental organisation and presentation of knowledge. The outcome of the suggested programme of education of pre-school teachers should be a reflexive practitioner capable of making professional choices, of critical thinking and research in an own educational practice.
