Sažetak
The main objective of this section of the publication is to examine the accurate status of enterprise privatization in Croatia. Additional objective is to analyze the dominant effects of the privatization process on restructuring of enterprise sector in Croatia as well as the impact of the new ownership structures that emerged after the privatization process on the efficiency performance and corporate governance of privatized firms. The methodology used to analyze the possible relationship between the ownership structure of the privatized enterprise and their performance are based on companies financial indicators in the period of 1996-2000, especially of a) value added b) labor productivity and c) profitability, looking into privatized companies in different sectors, in order take into the consideration the other important factors that affect enterprise efficiency such as extent of competition and the market structure of the sector. The possible shortcomings of the methodology used is related to the difficulty of attributing the change of performance to the ownership change or to the other underlying factors such as the competition, deregulation, regulative underpinnings, important exogenous changes in the main trading markets etc. The text also brings the analysis of evolution of ownership structure of the privatized enterprises based on the sample of 331 enterprises.
