Sažetak
Democratic changes and transfer to the management market system as well as the whole economic and socio-politic system are subjected to the radical transformation process. Complete political and economical transformations in the Republic of Croatia and CEE countries will directly have significant implications and reflections on the agriculture development and performances via inter-regional relation and foreign trade exchange. One of the strategic options aiming to agriculture development policy is an effoft of the Republic of Croatia to be a member of the world and European trade and economic integration (WTO and CEFTA integration have been accomplished whereas EU integration and membership is our long-term direction). The Republic of Croatia compared to most of other transitional countries is late with preparation in terms of the future EU integration. It is the result of both real recent historical circumstances and subjective slow political commitments for thes option. Such activities have recently been more intensive, especially after SSP EU had been signed. The Republic of Croatia will, in the adaptation process, accept liberalization of EU – originated products import and try to keep certain privileges, depending on some products sensitivity. Results of the comparative analysis provide more objective image of domestic agricultural sector in the international environment. Thus, apart from the conditions imposed by EU required for new member countries, the paper gives agricultural prospects in terms of production economic indicators and their comparison with central and east European countries as well as status of legislation and economic policy in this field.
