Sažetak
The aim of the study was to estimate the content of the antioxidans in Red Blood Cells (RBC) and serum of patients on hemodialysis (HD) and to establish are there any differences before and after HD depending on the type of membrane used in process. The blood were drawn from the uremics who were on standard HD treatment with cellulose acetate (n=17) and polysulfone (n=19) membrane. Superoxide dismutase in RBC before HD were high (1025± ; 258IU/gHb) in relation to healthy subjects (CG, n=30) (854± ; 180IU/gHb) p<0.05. After HD activity was 851± ; 279IU/gHb). Glutathione peroxidase was low before HD (44± ; 15IU/gHb) and after HD (46± ; 21IU/gHb) in relation to CG (60± ; 17IU7gHb) p<0.05. The levels of transferin and albumin in serum were low before and after HD in relation to CG. Transferin: CG 3.36± ; 0.66g/L ; before HD 2.15± ; 2.61 g/L ; after HD 2.47± ; 0.75g/L p<0.05. Albumin: CG 50.7± ; 3.0g/L ; before HD 42.5± ; 4.2g/L ; after HD 46.7± ; 4.8g/L p<0.05. The levels of uric acid before HD were high (343± ; 73µ ; mol/L) and after HD were low (118± ; 31µ ; mol/L) in the relation to CG (276± ; 100µ ; mol/L) p<0.05. In conclusion, the results of the study show that the antioxidative capacity in RBC and in serum was changed during HD. The type of membrane (biocompatibility) had no influence.
