Sažetak
In monitoring of health for a population group, estimation of nourishment is applied for a determination of nutrition disorders, like overweight or underweight. The main step in evaluation of nourishment is determination of basic anthropometric characteristics. Measurements of the main anthropometric characteristics, such as body height (BH) and body mass (BM) were conducted in 39 Croatian boarding schools that accommodate students aged between 15 and 19 years. By this measurements are covered 73 % of students population accommodated in boarding schools. In this study were included 3087 students: 1668 female students and 1419 male students. The nourishment of the measured population group was estimated by body mass index (BMI). The results were presented as average values for Republic of Croatia and are also distributed according to the region of the students abiding. Republic of Croatia was divided in five regions: Slavonia, Lika & Gorski Kotar, Central Croatia (town Zagreb and surrounding), Istria and Dalmatia (the middle and south Coast and Islands). Correlations between anthropometric characteristics in the regions are evaluated and the ANOVA test was used. The largest increase in BH for female students is determined in Lika & Gorski Kotar, 11.15 cm. For the same population is also determined maximal difference for BM of 8.24 kg. Maximal increase of BMI of 2.39 kg m-2 is determined in Slavonia. For male students the average differences are more visible like for instance: BH differences ranges from 6, 94 cm in Istria to 12, 11 cm in Central Croatia. The differences for BM ranges from 5.91 kg in Slavonia to 16.05 kg in Dalmatia. The differences for male students for BMI ranges from 0, 90 in Slavonia to 2, 85 kg m-2 in Dalmatia. The differences are also presented with p-values for 0.05 significance level.
