Sažetak
Preventive measures used in surgery can never completely dismiss the possibility of infection. Trauma patients are the most particular group concerning the impossibility of preparation which is often not possible since they require emergency operation. Considering the recent appearance of more resistant species, research and analysis of the microbiological status is essential for prevention. Detection of postoperative lesions and the analysis of the bacteria in the drains is the most important indicator of a potential infection as well as an optimal therapy for certain bacteria species. The authors of this report have analysed the results of microbiological analysis of the Redon drains during a three-year period. They have studied the percentage of infected postoperative lesions and the clinical results of the infected lesions and bacteriological drain swabs. Our analysis has shown that most of the lesion infections are etiologically equal to the etiology of the drain swab. A proper therapy certainly justifies our experiences in the early infection detection. A certain percentage of differences among the causative lesion infections and drain swabs appear most probably due to a secondary infection. Although these are long-term results, the percentage of operation infections is low and regardless of the cost of the bacteriological analysis, it justifies the cost the appearance of the infection, as well as the toxicity factors.
