Sažetak
In this century the pilgrime centre in Marija Bistrica was enriched by the monumental statin of the Cross. Due to the unique spacial and artistic sculptural forms it has the significance of a sacral memorial complex and is a kind of forma viva of contemporary art. It is placed east from the church on a very suitable hill.The begining of its construction, according to the Cardinal A. Stepinacs idea, is connected with a reconstruction undertakings in Marija Bistrica during the first years of the World War II. First four stations was built in 1941. Second phase of the Calvary construction lasted from 1977 till 1990.These are the works of the following distinguished contemporary sculptors from Croatia - Ante Orlić, Marija Ujević, Krunoslav Bošnjak, Stanko Janjčić, Josip Poljan and Ante Starčević.
