Sažetak
Experimental plots set up in the Velebit area are intended the research into the structure and dynamics of spruce stands. The plots were placed in those stands in which the natural structure has not been adversely changed with silvicultural treatments. The results of the research show that spruce stands in Velebit may reach imposing dimensions both as regards individual trees and the stand as a whole. The dynamics of these stands shows a gradual transition into the climatogenous associations of beech and fir. The older the spruce stand is, and the more favourable the site conditions are for beech and fir, the faster and more visible the process is in the field.
