Sažetak
Eating involves more than people's simply delivering nutrients to the body. Food perception as food choice are not always sensible. To a great extent, they resist change. Among the reasons why people choose the foods they eat may be: personal references, habit and tradition, social pressure, availability, convenience, economy, nutritional value. Of these possible reasons, only one has to do with nutrition directly. Even people who pride themselves on eating nutritious food will admit that the other six factors also influence their food choices and the food choice is directly connected with nutritional status and health. Nutrition has grown in importance for more and more consumers. Some people are interested in nutrition as a way to avoid illness, others seek nutrition to improve their physical well-being. Food manufactures have respond to the scientific finding linking health and nutrition with an abundant selection of grocery-store foods and beverages advertised as low-calorie, low-cholesterol, low fat, low sodium, sugar-free, caffeine-free, high-fibre, and calcium-enriched items. Consumers accept these new, health-promoting foods in their diets, provided that the foods are easy to identify, easy to find, fast and convenient to prepare and they taste good
