Sažetak
This paper describes a digitally controlled oscillator phase noise measuring system with a high degree of flexibility in regard to video frequency coverage as well as radio frequency coverage. The base of the system is a phase discriminator which utilizes a transmission-line resonator. The resonator is tuned with a pair of the reflection-type electronic phase shifters. This type of tuning allows both, wide radio frequency coverage and simplicity of the control circuits. System is designed to operate at 1700 MHz with a bandwith of 400 MHz, but it can be easily modified to any frequency range of interest with a slight change in system's components. System is controlled by microcontroller and connected to the PC via the HP-IB (IEEE 488) interface bus, which allows easily tuning as well as the results of a measurement to PC.
