Sažetak
This paper describes the international state-of-the-art concerning welding project methods related to nuclear/traditional industrial applications, by means of a documentary study including literature, publications, standards and data-base searches. The technical limitations of existing welding project methods are briefly explained, in particular regarding numerical modeling techniques reproducing welding processes. Fundamental interests in investigating weldings are currently in progress, to improve quality and durability, showing the advantage of adopting neutron techniques in order to obtain essential information about welded joints that cannot be found by using other means. In particular, the non-destructive methods, such as neutron diffraction and SANS, allow to characterize the materials at atomic and nanoscale level, providing the substantial contribution of precise structural processes to existing technologies. The same techniques will enable to develop welding processes, improving quality assurance, safety enhancement, life-time management and cost effectiveness of welded products.
