Sažetak
Faced with fast emerging of isopod parasite Ceratothoa oestroides infection in Mediterranean finfish facilities, which in intensive rearing system became hard to eradicate and except of weight loss in adult fish, cause mortalities in larval and juveniles stages, an effective, environment appropriate and nontoxic for non-target organisms compound had to be tested for bath treatment. Ivermectin was chose for this purpose on basis of extensive practice of North European countries, which use Ivermectin administered in food with good results in attenuation of Lepeophthrius sp. and Caligus sp. infections. For determination of toxicity of Ivermectin, a short-term toxicity bioassay on 40-days old sea bream Sparus aurata L., was conducted, fallowing FAO and UNEP procedure for methodology in aquatic toxicity trials. Median survival time, slope functions and 95% confidence limits for Ivermectin showed moderate toxicity in sea bream, with 50% of mortalities during 96 h at the concentration of 0.056 mg/l, thus showing possible applicability of Ivermectin as isopod control agent. Bath treatment as a rout of administration was suggested in our system conditions.
