Sažetak
Today, the knowledge is becoming a power, and investment into human capital is becoming an investment that yields personal as well as social benefits. A contribution of higher education to the economic development can be determined by measuring its (internal and external) efficiency. This paper focuses on researching the reasons for unsatisfactory level of internal efficiency of higher education in Croatia, a conclusion the authors reached in their previous study. Strategic directives for increasing the internal efficiency of higher education in the Republic of Croatia have been formulated based on the research results.
