Sažetak
This study results from a concrete need for a mathematical-statistical basis for an investment decision in timber business. The case determines the choice of independent variables dominantly affecting the business results. The possibility of wider application determines the choice of dependent variables as well as the form of multiple regression equations. Dependence between variables is evaluated by the standard statistical way and subsequently parameters are evaluated by linear programming. The comparative analysis of results confirms the advantage of linear programming in evaluation of interdependence. It is particularly reflected in the superiority of links evaluated by linear programming according to econometric criteria, especially when the problem of multicollinearity appears. This is the scientific contribution of the paper and it is a new approach to business planning.
